Clock Towers

Lately I've been noticing a trend among colleges and universities in my area, all of them have a tall building that chimes, sings, or otherwise indicates time.
Belk Tower - UNCC
Student Activities Center - UNCC
Wyss Information Center Tower - Gaston College
Randolph Community College
Morehead-Patterson Bell Tower - UNC-CH
Memoral Bell Tower - NCSU
